Many products in society contribute to the
advancement of peoples' lives. Kureha's role is to develop original
and innovative materials that can contribute to those products, such
as those used in personal computers, cell phones and automobile parts.
Its products play an important role in everyday appliances that are
becoming smaller and lighter every year.
Major products at Kureha include advanced plastics such as "polyphenylere
sulphide (PPS) resin," engineering plastics that are widely utilized
as an alternative to metal, "polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) resin,"
which is used in lithium ion secondary batteries, "products to
counter static electricity," that are used in the manufacturing
of integrated circuit packages and semiconductors, and "carbon
products," that are used to purify water, air and gas or as industrial
insulation materials. All of these are specialized products that contribute
to and meet the needs of advanced industries that are essential to
modern life. |

Responding to high-level requirements,
Kureha's advanced plastics attract widespread
attention from various industries. For example,
Fortron KPS is a linear PPS resin developed
by Kureha that is highly regarded worldwide as
a tough and heat-resistant super engineering
plastic. Another testament to the company's advanced
plastics capabilities is KF Polymer (polyvinylidene
fluoride resin), which is used in a variety of
industries due to its excellent chemical resistance
and electrical characteristics. |

Products to counter the effects
of static electricity, which fuse a variety of
Kureha technologies, support advanced industries
in Japan and in international markets. These
include Bayon, an anti-static resin that
is used in IC related packages and LCD glass
carrier case that are easily damaged by static
electricity, and Krefine, an advanced
electrostatic discharge material used to protect
electronic devices from damage caused by static
electricity. Our business model, which covers
all aspects of the production process from the
supply of basic materials to the supply of finished
products, will enable us to become more active
in ever larger markets. |

Demand for Kureha's highly regarded carbon products
continues to grow. Among the many products the company produces in
this area are carbon fibers, which are widely known for their use
of petroleum pitch as a raw material. Displaying a variety of characteristics,
these products are provided in a number of different forms including
thread, felt, sheets, and cylinders due to their application in a
range of fields. In addition, Kureha's bead-shaped activated carbon,
developed using the company's original technology, is used as a material
in fields such as air deodorization, gas absorption and water purification
because of its high strength and fluidity. |
